Real Love
In the First Reading this Sunday, Elisha the Prophet is shown true love and kindness from a woman of influence. She urged him to dine with her and her husband where she also offered him a place to sleep. He in turn showed real love and appreciation to her. He promised that when he next sees her she would have a son, even though her husband was of old age. God made this happen for her because of the true love and kindness she had shown him. A year later she was fondling a baby son as Elisha promised her. It was showing his real LOVE in response to them. God has real love for all of us who keep our promises when we truly show it and mean it.
If our love for God is true and sincere, we should be able to sing joyfully all the words of today’s Psalm. Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. At least sing it with true meaning during this Sunday Mass. God loves us all with an infinite Love. Pray that our Love for God is truly sincere. Listen to the words of the Psalm and take them to heart for God watches our every action.
In the Gospel Jesus tells the Apostles and us also who are baptized into His eternal life; Whoever loves father and mother more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. It is not enough to say that we love God if God is not first in our lives. God watches our every move and sees all our actions good and bad. It is not enough to say I love God if our actions are not showing it. Remember we will all have to face a final judgement. Let us be prepared for that day. God does love us with a real love and He expects a real love from us.
When was the last time you went to confession and asked God to cleanse you of any serious sin? Don’t wait until you are too sick or too old to make a good confession. God in His great love for us expects to see your Real Love for Him
